Henry Harold Kennedy, Jr. was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He joined the court in 1997 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton and served until his retirement on November 18, 2011. [1]

Early life and education

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Kennedy graduated from Princeton University with his Bachelor's degree in 1970 and later from Harvard Law School with his Juris Doctor degree in 1973.[2]

Professional career

Kennedy served in the U.S. Attorney's Office as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1973 to 1976. From 1979 to 1997, Kennedy was a Superior Court Judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.[2]

From 1976 to 1979, Kennedy served as a Federal Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.[2]

District of Columbia

Kennedy was nominated to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia by President Bill Clinton on May 15, 1997 to a seat vacated by Joyce Green as Green assumed senior status. Kennedy was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 4, 1997 on a Senate vote and received commission on September 18, 1997.[3] Kennedy served until his retirement on November 18, 2011.
