Illinois judicial system
The structure of the Illinois judicial system is laid out in Article VI of the state Constitution. The state court system is made up of the Illinois Supreme Court, the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Circuit Court.
The federal court system is made up of the Central District Court of Illinois, the Northern District Court of Illinois and the Southern District Court of Illinois. Appeals from these courts go to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
