The Tenth District Court is located in Calhoun County, Michigan. Like other district courts, the Tenth handles arraignments, bail, trials and sentencing for misdemeanors and conducts preliminary hearings for felony cases. "It has exclusive jurisdiction of all summary proceedings, small claims and civil litigation up to $25,000 and handles garnishments, tenancy, eviction and other proceedings."[1]
Judges of the District Court are elected to six-year terms in non-partisan elections. Salaries are set by the legislature.[2]
