N. Kent Lawrence is a former Chief Judge of the Clarke County State Court in Georgia.[1] He was first elected to this court in November of 1985 and would serve until November of 2011. He was retained to a sixth four-year term in November of 2006 which began on January 1, 2007 and ended on December 31, 2010.[2] [3] Lawrence retired from the court on November 30, 2011. [4]

Education

Judge Lawrence received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from the University of Georgia. In 1978, he graduated from the Woodrow Wilson College of Law with his J.D. degree.[2]

Legal career

Prior to joining the State Court, Judge Lawrence worked in various law and law enforcement related positions such as: patrol officer, special investigator with the District Attorney’s office, countywide drug task force officer, Chief of Police, and prosecuting attorney. He has also served on multiple judicial and DUI/Drug Court committees throughout his judicial career. He was elected to the State Court in November of 1985.[2]
