The Judicial Update

April 1, 2011

Washington D.C.: On March 16, President Obama nominated two women to fill federal court vacancies. The nominees were Judge Jane Triche-Milazzo, of the 23rd Louisiana Judicial District, and Mary Geiger Lewis, a partner at the law firm Lewis & Babcock. They were appointed to fill empty seats on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, respectively. President Obama said this of the nominees, "These women have had distinguished legal careers and I am honored to ask them to continue their work as judges on the federal bench. They will serve the American people with integrity and an unwavering commitment to justice."[1]
