Judicial appointment
Federal judicial nomination
On May 4, 2011 Obama nominated Robert N. Scola, Jr. to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida to a seat vacated by Paul Huck.[3] Obama told the press, "These individuals have demonstrated the talent, expertise, and fair-mindedness Americans expect and deserve from their judicial system. I am grateful for their willingness to serve and confident that they will apply the law with the utmost impartiality and integrity."[4]

The Senate Judiciary committee recommended Scola on July 21, 2011 and he was confirmed by a Senate voice vote on October 19, 2011.[5]
Early life and education
Scola received a bachelors from Brown University in 1977 and a J.D. from the Boston College Law School in 1980.[4]
