Vincent L. Briccetti is a judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He joined the court in 2011 after being appointed by Barack Obama. Prior to his appointment, he was the Supervisory Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Federal Public Defender’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia and held that position since 2005.
Early life and education
Briccetti received a B.A. from Columbia University in 1976 and a juris doctorate degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1980.[1]
Judicial career
Southern District of New York
On November 17, 2010 President Obama nominated Briccetti to the seat on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York vacated by Kimba Wood. [1]
President Obama had this to say about the nominations made on November 17, 2010, "I am pleased to nominate these distinguished individuals to serve on the United States District Court bench.I am confident they will serve the American people with integrity and a steadfast commitment to justice." [2]
Briccetti received a unanimous rating of "Well Qualified" from the American Bar Association. [3]

Nomination returned to President
Briccetti's nomination was returned to the President at the end of the 111th congress.
Nomination resubmitted
President Obama resubmitted the nomination on January 5, 2011.
Confirmation
Briccetti's nomination was confirmed by a Senate voice vote on April 12, 2011. [4]
