West Virginia judicial system
The structure of the West Virginia judicial system is laid out in Article VIII of the state Constitution. The state court system is made up of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the West Virginia Circuit Courts, the West Virginia Family Courts, the West Virginia Magistrate Courts and the West Virginia Municipal Courts.
The federal court system is made up of the Northern District of West Virginia, the Southern District of West Virginia, the Northern District of West Virginia, bankruptcy court and the Southern District of West Virginia, bankruptcy court. Appeals go to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
